Our economy is thriving. As one of the country’s most fertile and prosperous farming regions, agriculture remains at the heart of this community’s livelihood. But this former market town, which is also celebrated for its textile industry, is fast becoming the home to many new knowledge based and creative industries thanks to its central location and people pool.
Tourism is also becoming a major source of income for the region as numbers of visitors continue to grow year on year. Ballymena currently ranks a very lucky thirteenth within Northern Ireland in terms of generating tourism revenue (£8m in 2004).
