Since June 2003, over £800k has been made available by Ballymena Borough Council in financial support for community and voluntary groups through the Miscellaneous, Sports Club and Special Events Grant Schemes.
This support has helped such events as the Mid Antrim 150, Gig 'n The Bann and the Traction Engine Show, to name but a few, to develop over the past 5 years.
It has helped buy much needed equipment for sports clubs, assisted community festivals and financed local environmental projects to the benefit of everyone in the Borough.
In July 2008, the Miscellaneous, Sports Club and Special Events Grant Schemes were replaced by the new Minor & General Grant Schemes.
The new schemes will continue to assist voluntary and community groups in the above ways and with the shorter and simplified application form for smaller grants they will enable easier access to funding for the smaller groups.
Details of these schemes can be found in the links below.
To qualify for grant aid applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a voluntary group, formally constitued with a current committee.
- Be based in the Ballymena Borough Council area or provide a service that is of a clear and direct benefit within the Ballymena Borough Counicl area.
